Although we’re not super fond of this theory, this character’s name is “Alfgram”, which can be short for “Alfred Ingram”. It may just be an hommage to him though.

Real life inspirations

Alfred Pietroni is an artist heavily inspired by the Souls saga. In his Download 2023 post (you can find it here Oli Sykes Instagram), Oli stated that he’s “written a bible that [he] and Alfred have turned into a dystopian sci fi opera”. This and Alfred’s influences are maybe the reason why we get a lot of Souls and Silent Hill references in the lore. There is a big chance that Alfred Ingram Winter’s name is an ode to Alfred Pietroni’s involvement.

Alfred Ingram Winter may have been inspired by L. Ron Hubbard, the creator of the Church of Scientology. We dive deeper into this cult in Church of Genxsis.

Our tinfoil theories

First of all, as we know the Church was created in 1956 and E.V.E. is still known as one of the leaders, it’s possible that Alfred was a scientist to begin with, participated to the Dartmouth Workshop and created the very first version of E.V.E. himself. As the AI we know today wasn’t around before the 21st century, this first version would be considered as a “super-computer” rather than a true AI. Even in a new dystopian world (since we now know that the Post Human world is very different from ours), there is little to no chance to consider that E.V.E. was already sentient back then.

Alfred was the original bot on Discord, but disappeared mysteriously after a serie of ominous messages (if you want to know more about them, visit BMTH Discord). This behaviour and the fact we don’t hear about him after that led us to believe that he was probably killed, probably by E.V.E. who’s the bot taking his place afterwards, and that’s been in the spotlight when we talk about the Church of Genxsis since the beginning.

There is also a mysterious woman called “Emily” in the story. This name was first brought up on BMTH Discord when the event to reach Youtopia appeared, as a rank higher than E.V.E.. E.V.E. talks about her like an example we have to follow to reach Youtopia, which means that Emily also followed this path. We theorized multiple things about her, and here are the theories involving Alfred :

• She might be Alfred’s pupil, that he raised to take the lead of the Church when he would pass away.
• She was E.V.E.’s “chosen one”, and may have followed her lead to overthrow Alfred in the name of E.V.E., thus taking his place.
• She was just a cult member, and has nothing to do with Alfred’s disappearance.

The main problems we have with Alfred

Alfred Ingram Winter has been mentioned only twice in this entire ARG, way before Nex Gen was released. The first mention of this name was on Oli Sykes Instagram, on his Download 2023 post. But there is a catch : although we used that post as a base for facts and theories, we’re not sure how relevant it still is today. A lot of the recent additions to the lore seem to contradict the claims here, including a full retcon of the Church of Genxsis that will erase Alfred’s existence and date their creation as late as 2020 or 2021 instead of 1956, thus throwing off a lot of our theories. As of today (28/07/2024), we don’t have any official statement about that issue.

Moreover, Alfred’s bot on Discord wasn’t only erased ; his messages were also deleted completely, and only some screenshots provided by fans are available now. This might indicate that this very character was retconned out of the story.
